Who's ready to start exploring!?
We're you're ever exploring girls, Ashley and Kristy. There's not a trail we don't crave, or a new town we can't wait to explore. Stick with us to find out our favorite places to take nature head-on, or just sit back and relax.
Oh, and if in doubt - we'll run for beer.
On June 3rd I attempted the Cayuga Trail 50 again for the second time. This time I had hopes to actually finish, unlike last time when I knew it was a long shot.
I know we have been hibernating for the winter but what better way to come out of hibernation then a post on running. On March 25 I made the trip to Blain, PA to run my age in miles. This event is a fat ass race put on by a lovely gentleman by the name of Don.
This is for that weekend you only have 24 hours to get in as many peaks as possible with a short drive. The plan is to drive up Friday after work, stay at a the Woodland Valley Campground, run/hike the Slide, Cornell, Wittenberg loop (counter clockwise) and be back in Ithaca in time for dinner. No biggie just a quick micro-adventure. Who said you must have the whole weekend to get some fresh air and camp out are crazy folks.
We go down to the shore, walk the boards, and devour water ice.
Plan on visiting Ithaca? We have the all our favorite food and drink locations!
Three-day weekend obviously means we will be taking a trip, the question is where? The Adirondacks of course to get some more high peaks in was on the top of my list.
The plan of attack to get as much in during 7 days as possible!
I am a super crazy planner so when I decided to go to Utah for a week my type A personality came out in full. My itinerary has just about everything mapped out, however without ever going to Utah before I have a difficult time gauging distance between placed and road conditions. Here is the overview of my week, more specific trail info to come!
This race had been on my radar since I started trail running. This is my first encounter with ultra running/trail running…for me they go together. Read my earlier post Journey to Ultra for more info on this. But this post is about my love affair with Cayuga Trails 50 my first attempt.
Going sky diving has always been on my to do list but some how always gets pushed to the back burner in favor of other activities. This is until my niece Alex asks if I will go skydiving with her. We find a free weekend and I reserve our spots for Memorial Day. This weekend we are also building our deck. I spend both Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning working on this. We just take a little break to jump out of a plane.
Skunk cabbage classic is the first big race in Ithaca of the spring therefor every loves to participate. It was recommended by my physical therapist that I sit this one out; I feel I must obey despite my desire to run.
